the finished rug and the start of another...

A week ago today, I started crocheting a rug.  These first pictures are where I was at by the end of the day.  I used 2" strips of woven fabric and 2" strips of bed sheets.  I had ripped them into those 2" wide strips.  Using an 8" Q crochet needle, I crocheted them together.  In the middle of the rug, I chained 10 singles together (not sure that is technically the right terms).

Ta-Da!  My finished rug!!  Now where to put it...

Originally, I wanted to put my red, white, and blue rug in our entryway.  It's just too pretty to take muddy shoes...SO...I decided to make a different rug for the entryway out of old jeans!  Here's how far I've gotten...

Working with the jean fabric is a little more bulky so I CUT instead of ripped 1" strips of jean material and have been hand-sewing the ends of the strips together instead of knotting them.  The middle of the rug is also 15 singles instead of 10.

Lord,
Thank You for these scraps of fabric!
...for friends to teach me to do something new like crocheting a rug together!
...for a husband and boys who cheer me on!
