It all began very innocently. I found some shelves and a work bench at a garage sale for our garage. That small discovery led to a complete rearranging and organizing of our garage. Metal shelves along one side and the work bench at the end...but that could only happen if I took out the dreaded corner of things that hadn't moved since we had moved in! UGH!
Organizing an area involves making lots of decisions. What to do with it...save...throw away...or give away (or try to sell at a garage sale) are the avenues our piles go into. As I'm organizing, the area sincerely looks like it has exploded. But it always looks worse before it looks better!
With our garage organized, I began tackling other areas that had been neglected like our kitchen cabinets, our toy room, our shed, and our storage area. AND, I came up with lots and lots of things that we could put out for a garage sale.
We also decided to go ahead and put all of our baby things on the sale...which meant making sure all of the things were marked. Now, because I didn't want to dive in to marking things for the sale and miss out on life until I had everything done, I just got a few things at a time and marked them. As they were getting marked, they were put into the garage (the area I just organized). We got totes upon totes out of storage and put them into our living room along the wall and kept working away until it was all marked and into the garage. The only problem was that it didn't all fit into our garage, which made our living room, dining room, and other areas get smaller and smaller!
Three weeks ago, we were intending to have our garage sale, however, one of our church members passed away and the funeral was held on a Saturday. We decided to move the sale to the next weekend, but then each night, we were at the ball fields for our 10 year old's baseball tournament. The garage sale moved to the following weekend (which happened to be this past weekend).
We sold lots of things and now, with all of those totes and boxes out, our house seems like it is HUGE! Sitting in our living room has never been so peaceful and relaxing! There's nothing like being content where we are!

Lord,
Thank you for a warm home in winter
and a cool home in summer.
Thank you for providing for our needs.
Thank you for the many blessings You have given
that I often overlook...
like water,
food,
a house,
my husband,
my children,
the fireflies at night,
the flowers around the house,
the veggies growing in the garden.
