God's Calling on My Life

My blessings are 10 and 7
and full of energy!
They love life.



They love sports
 and are involved
 year-round in activities. 


Time with these boys
is so incredible...
hard and full of joy
as we live life together.
BUT,
Lots of people have other expectations from me...
to be what they think I need to be...
to meet a need in their lives...



When I don't do exactly what they want,
they are disappointed with me...
their misplaced needs are not met...
and there is nothing I can do to please them.

But that is not God's calling on my life
--and if I follow those people, I am not living to please God--
it is another person's calling
--I am then living to please people.


My calling in life
right now
is to be my blessings' mom...


to rejoice in their victories...
to weep with them in their sadness...
to encourage them in all things...
to follow Jesus.



The time I have with my blessings
is small...
but touches eternity
to affect the lives of my children's children.

Lord,
Thank you for the time you have given me
to love these boys
to live life with them
to cheer them on
and to pray for them.

"Admonish the young women...
to love their children."
Titus 2:4

Keep my focus on the goal
of teaching my boys all about You
 and how wonderful You are.

"These words which I command you today
shall be in your heart;
you shall teach them diligently to your children,
and shall talk of them when you sit in your house,
when you walk by the way,
when you lie down,
and when you rise up."
Deuteronomy 6:6-7

Help me not to live to please people,
because nothing I can ever do will be enough
to satisfy their deep need for You...
You alone are the Healer of our hearts.

"Am I now trying to win
the approval of men,
or of God? 
Or am I trying to please men?
If I were still trying to please men,
I would not be a servant of Christ."
Galatians 1:10

Give me Your eyes to see exactly where
my circle of responsibility ends...
and where Your responsibility begins.

"Make it your ambition to
lead a quiet life,
to mind your own business
and to work with your hands..."
I Thessalonians 4:11

Thank You, Lord,
for helping me to see
that the time with these boys
is just too short to be
thinking too much
about the things
that are not real
or true.

"Finally, brothers,
whatever is true,
whatever is noble,
whatever is right,
whatever is pure,
whatever is lovely,
whatever is admirable--
if anything is excellent or praiseworthy--
think about such things."
Philippians 4:8
