I look forward to lefsa
Norwegian potato flat bread
fresh-made
with butter
wrapped around
yummy food we're having!
This year was no exception
to my father's heritage...
Only this year included my aunt, Harriet,
and her girls, Ashley and Hailey...
plus my sister Stacie, her husband Chad, and
their adorable children M and B.
With lots of laughs,
we learned how to
mix up the ingredients...
make dough balls...
roll them out
to just the perfect
thickness...
carry them with
the special lefsa stick...
and carefully flip them over
when they are
cooked just enough.
I love lefsa
and this one special
Norwegian heritage :)

and its own traditions

Thank You, Lord for this something that is one way of remembering where our great-greats came from...may we always be brought back to thanking You for these traditions of using what we have to provide for our families...through Your generous hand.
Great pictures! Dan's grandma used to always bring us homemade lefsa at Christmas (or any other time she came to visit!)I regret that she never gave me a lesson in making it before she didn't want to do it anymore. bummer. I have the lefsa griddle & flipping "stick" But have never attempted to make it myself. I do make Kuchen (german) at Christmas, tho!
ReplyDeleteWe must be related, Suzi!! We make kuchen, too!! My mom's family is German and my dad's family is Norwegian :) How fun! Do you have the lefsa recipe? I'd love to get together with you sometime and make some lefsa!!
